Residents of Daadom screen on various health conditions

Baakodo International, a Sunyani- based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) has screened residents of Daadom, a farming community in the Sunyani Municipality on various health conditions.

The NGO seeks to promote the welfare of vulnerable women and children.

More than 250 people, including the aged, Persons With Disabilities, Widows, Orphans and children were for sexual transmitted infections, Hepatitis ‘B’, Blood pressure, Malaria, Body Mass Index.

Some of the beneficiaries were provided with free medication.

Dr. Kwadwo Addai, in charge of Antwikrom Health Center who led the medical team urged the general public to take health and safety precautions serious for their own wellbeing.

In an interview with Sky News Dr Addai noted many people develop various health complications because of poor hygiene and advised everybody to keep his or her surroundings clean at all times.

Nana Takyiwaa Baako, President of the Baakodo International and Akuamuhemaa of Baakoniaba in the Municipality expressed concern about rising trend of streetism among children in the Municipality.

She assured her NGO’s determination to support the education of vulnerable children, particularly those in rural communities.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the NGO hoping that it would continued with the health screening exercise to enhance the health status of the people in the area.

The NGO later presented teaching and learning materials to the Daadom Local Authority (L/A) Basic School and distributed second clothing some beneficiaries of the screening.
